When I opened my eyes, I could see it was dark outside, but had no idea what time it might be. I was still half hard, it seemed like, but had at some point withdrawn from him. My cock was nestled between his cheeks still. When I moved a bit he stirred, and then held tightly to the arm I had draped over his side. He pulled my hand up to his chest and pressed his lips to my fingers. “Don’t go,” he said.

“Nick…” What was I supposed to say?

“We could leave,” he said. “Go somewhere that no one knows us. They don’t have to know you’re my dad. I’m nineteen—we can dissolve your guardianship, or something.”

“That’s not the point, son,” I said, pulling him close and burying my face in his hair. “You need to be with someone your own age. Someone you can explore with, and learn about yourself with. You need to meet someone that you can grow old with. I don’t want you to waste all your years on me.”

“What if I can’t? What if I always feel like… like I’m yours?”

I sighed, and when I inhaled I breathed in the smell of his hair. Before, it had made my blood hot. Now, it brought a pang of sadness. “You’ll always be mine, baby boy. And I’ll always be yours. But not like that. No matter how much I love you. Especially because of how much I love you. Do you understand?”

He nodded his head, but didn’t say anything else. I was afraid he would get up, for some reason, and found myself pulling him closer, tighter. We stayed that way, locked together, until we fell asleep again. When I woke up, the morning light peeking down through the shades, he was gone. I panicked for a moment, and then recalled that he started his new job today.

I took a breath to calm myself, and then rolled onto my back with a sigh. How was I supposed to let him go, when just waking up without him made me feel empty inside?
